Terms of Service — The Pirate Bet

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using The Pirate Bet, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of The Pirate Bet after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

2. No Real-Money Gambling

IMPORTANT: The Pirate Bet is NOT a real-money gambling platform.

• PirateCoins are virtual tokens with no monetary value
• PirateCoins cannot be purchased, sold, or exchanged for real currency
• Winnings on The Pirate Bet have no real-world cash equivalent
• The platform is for entertainment and social competition only
• We do not facilitate, encourage, or enable real-money wagering

If you are seeking real-money gambling services, The Pirate Bet is not the appropriate platform.

3. Description of Service

The Pirate Bet is a social prediction and entertainment platform where users can:

• Create and participate in friendly prediction bets on sports and esports matches
• Compete with friends using virtual PirateCoins
• Earn XP, level up, and climb leaderboards
• Build a social network of fellow prediction enthusiasts
• Track their prediction accuracy and stats over time

4. Eligibility

To use The Pirate Bet, you must:

• Be at least 13 years of age
• Provide accurate and complete registration information
• Have a valid email address for account verification
• Not have been previously banned from the platform
• Comply with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction

By registering, you confirm that you meet these eligibility requirements. We reserve the right to request proof of age or identity at any time.

5. User Accounts

Account responsibilities:

• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
• You must not share your login credentials with others
• You are responsible for all activities under your account
• Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access
• One account per person is allowed — multiple accounts will be terminated
• Account sharing or trading is prohibited

You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page. Upon deletion, your data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

6. XP, Levels, PirateCoins & Rewards

The Pirate Bet features a progression system:

• XP (Experience Points): Earned through participation, predictions, and achievements
• Levels: Progress through levels as you earn XP
• PirateCoins: Virtual currency used for bet entry fees and rewards
• Leaderboards: Rankings based on various metrics

Important notes about virtual items:

• All virtual items have no real-world monetary value
• We may adjust balances to maintain platform integrity
• Virtual items may be reset during major platform updates
• XP, levels, and PirateCoins are non-transferable

7. Bet Creation and Participation Rules

When creating or joining bets:

• All bets are final once the bet is locked (at the match start time)
• Predictions cannot be changed after the lock time
• Entry fees (in PirateCoins) are deducted upon joining
• Results are determined by official match outcomes
• In case of cancelled or postponed matches, we may void affected bets
• Prize distribution follows the rules displayed at bet creation
• Solo bets (single participant) will be refunded

Bet visibility options:

• Public bets: Visible to all users, anyone can join
• Private bets: Only invited friends can join

8. Communities

The Pirate Bet allows users to create and join Communities — groups where members can share bets and compete on private leaderboards.

• Community names and descriptions: All community names and descriptions must comply with our Acceptable Use policy. You may not use names or descriptions that are offensive, hateful, racist, sexually explicit, or otherwise inappropriate. This applies with heightened scrutiny to public communities, which are visible to all users on the platform.
• Impersonation: You may not name a community in a way that falsely implies affiliation with, or impersonation of, any real esports organization, professional team, public figure, or official tournament.
• Founder responsibility: The community founder is responsible for the community's name, description, and general conduct. The Pirate Bet may rename, modify, or permanently remove any community that violates these Terms, without prior notice to the founder.
• Invite links: Private community invite links are intended for personal sharing with known individuals. Distributing private community invite links publicly (e.g., on public social media, forums, or open chat servers) in a way that undermines the intended private nature of the community is prohibited.
• Misuse: You may not use Communities to harass, target, or coordinate against other users, to circumvent public bet rules, or to conduct any activity prohibited under these Terms.

The Pirate Bet reserves the right to remove members from communities, revoke a user's ability to create communities, or delete communities entirely in response to policy violations.

9. Acceptable Use & User Responsibilities

You agree NOT to:

• Use the platform for any illegal purpose
• Harass, abuse, threaten, or bully other users
• Create multiple accounts or impersonate others
• Attempt to exploit bugs, glitches, or vulnerabilities
• Use automated tools, bots, scripts, or scrapers
• Manipulate results or collude with others for unfair advantages
• Upload inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content
• Spam, advertise, or solicit other users
• Attempt to circumvent security measures
• Interfere with the platform's operation or other users' experience
• Create community names, descriptions, or bet titles that are offensive, hateful, discriminatory, or otherwise inappropriate — particularly for public communities and public bets visible to all users
• Create multiple accounts to evade a ban, suspension, or the loss of community creation rights
• Share your account credentials or allow others to use your account
• Use automated scripts, bots, or other automation to create bets, communities, join communities, or otherwise interact with the platform

Fair play is essential. Any form of cheating or manipulation will result in immediate account termination.

10. Moderation Rights & Content Removal

We reserve the right to:

• Monitor user activity for violations of these terms
• Remove or modify any user-generated content at our discretion
• Void bets that violate our rules or involve manipulation
• Adjust PirateCoin balances if fraudulent activity is detected
• Issue warnings, temporary suspensions, or permanent bans
• Cooperate with law enforcement when required

Moderation decisions are final. Appeals may be submitted through our feedback system.

11. Account Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account:

• For violations of these Terms of Service
• For suspected fraudulent or abusive behavior
• For extended periods of inactivity
• At our discretion for any reason
• Repeated or serious violations of community naming policy or bet title policy (offensive, hateful, or impersonating content). A single severe violation (e.g., hate speech, impersonation of a real organization) may result in immediate permanent termination without prior warning
• Systematic creation of communities or bets with policy-violating content

In cases of minor or first-time violations, The Pirate Bet may issue a warning and remove the offending content, remove community creation rights, or take other proportionate action before proceeding to full account termination.

Upon termination:

• All virtual currency and items are forfeited
• Active bets may be voided or settled at our discretion
• You may lose access to all account data
• You may not create a new account without permission

12. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of The Pirate Bet — including but not limited to logos, graphics, icons, UI design, and software — are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws.

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or distribute our content without permission
• Use our branding or trademarks without authorization
• Reverse engineer or decompile our software
• Create derivative works based on our platform

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Pirate Bet is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

We do not guarantee:

• Uninterrupted or error-free service
• Accuracy of match data or results
• That the platform will meet your specific needs
• The security of data transmission

Use the platform at your own risk.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, The Pirate Bet and its operators shall not be liable for:

• Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
• Loss of virtual currency or items
• Unauthorized access to your account
• Service interruptions or data loss
• Actions of other users
• Inaccuracies in match data or results

Since PirateCoins have no monetary value, no financial compensation will be provided for any losses on the platform.

15. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of Finland. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of The Pirate Bet will be resolved by the competent courts of Finland.

If you are a consumer, you retain the mandatory protections granted to you by the laws of your country of residence; nothing in these Terms limits those rights.

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.

For significant changes, we may notify users through:

• Email notification
• In-app notification
• Banner on the platform

Continued use of The Pirate Bet after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
